Social Change through Alternative Economic Projects: Women's Empowerment and Microcredit in Nicaragua
June 13-21, 2009
Join the Working Capital for Community Needs as we visit Nicaraguan organizations that empower communities and improve the quality of life of thousands of people through alternative economic projects. Witness the effect of microcredit on the lives of urban microentrepreneurs and small-scale rural producers. Discover the impact of land access and fair trade markets on rural women. Throughout the tour, participants will also have the opportunity to meet with dynamic leaders of the Women's Movement in Nicaragua whose struggle for gender equality is truly inspiring.
Our study tours build on 25 years of experience in Nicaragua, and more than 18 years supporting alternative credit organizations and fair-trade cooperatives. The cost of the tour is on a sliding scale, $900-$1200 (plus airfare to/from Managua), depending on what you can afford. Individuals of all backgrounds are welcome!
